Another tough case for Detective Inspector Richard ‘Dickie’ Ticker as he is again partnered by his over enthusiastic sidekick Sergeant Sprockett. This time they are called to the prestigious department store ‘Kerwoods’, where all is not well.
In a last gasp attempt to off load his responsibilities, owner Nathan Kerwood has decided to sell the store and all its assets to American Multi Media Giant ‘Walnut’. Their chief executive Cyrus Montague is a tough negotiator and has drastic cost cutting measures in mind.
The staff from the clothing department are called in early to hear the news of the changes to come and they’re not happy. How will Barrington Farrington (the department manager), Clement Paddle (the chief accountant), and Constance Darcy (ladies clothing) cope with changes in a store where they have spent most of their lives?
What about the more junior staff: Tamsin Walsingham, Travis Pandy and Mitchell Quinn – they are all desperate to hold on to their jobs.
What will happen to Harry the caretaker, who served the Nathan Kerwood’s father with such loyalty?
How will the staff cope with years of tradition being thrown away by the new owners?
How will Nathan Kerwood feel when he realises that Cyrus Montague has fresh ideas about the financial settlement for the store?
