Detective Inspector Richard ‘Dickie’ Ticker is pulled away from his favourite ‘manor’ to a seaside hotel to investigate the apparent murder of Tecwyn Mallow. Of course he has to take Sergeant Sprockett with him, persuading him not to bring a bucket and spade! It appears that Tecwyn had organised a special comedy weekend to boost the income of his failing hotel. Unimpressed, his ‘trophy’ wife, Josie takes a reservation from Tecwyn’s ex comedy partner Ken Toffee, who has gone on to major success after leaving the comedy double act he used to enjoy with Tecwyn.  Ken’s agent ‘Tupper’ Nuttall realises he should also travel to the hotel as there is still bad feeling between the ex-comedy partners and he needs to ‘smooth’ their meeting after all these years. Tecwyn Mallow won £750, 000 on the lottery and bought the hotel, much to the disappointment of his wife, who is now looking for ways to leave Tecwyn and the hotel forever.

Hotel staff; Glenda Gallows, Bella Rella and Ursula Minor do their best to support Tecwyn in his efforts to make the ‘comedy’ weekend a success, however when Tecwyn is found dead after his energetic re-enactment of an episode from Fawlty Towers suspicion falls on all the guests. Can you help Ticker solve the crime, make a success of his time on the ‘Seaside Beat’ and make a triumphant return to his beloved London?
